Explosion Proof Exhaust Fan
Roof/Wall Mounted Fans to Remove Hazardous Gas
In applications requiring an additional exhaust fan, Specific Systems® makes available an explosion proof auxiliary exhaust fan. Best used in applications where our standard purging and pressurization of an area would be difficult or dangerous, this 12” fan is capable of flowing between 800 and 1140 cfm out of an area and maintaining a negative pressure in the enclosed space. The extra supply air fan can assist in meeting ASHRAE 90.1 standard for fresh air in occupied spaces.
The auxiliary exhaust fan is useful in Division 1 areas such as storage and waste treatment facilities where other types of fans would be dangerous.
The provided fan is a multi-blade 12” glass reinforced polypropelene fan. A 0.5 horsepower motor drives the fan at approximately 1750 RPM (at 60 Hz, 1Ø). The fan includes an air pressure monitor to ensure that air is flowing through the damper.
The roof mounted version of the explosion proof exhaust fan generally requires use of a rain cap, available through Specific Systems®.
A pressure sensor indicates proper operation of the fan. The sensor uses Form C dry contacts to enable quick and simple integration into existing alarm and control systems.
For applications such as battery rooms where offgassing of hydrogen causes the greatest hazard, we offer a fully integrated SBSH2 hydrogen gas detector that automatically activates the exhaust fan if H2 levels increase to 1%.
